Course description

The course consists of

Course requirements

Homework:

After certain exercise classes, bonus problems will be announced, and solutions can be submitted at next week's exercise class. There is no way to submit missed homework later. The maximum points that can be earned by solving bonus problems are 60.

 

Conditions for signature: 

attending at least 70% of exercise classes + passing all two problem-solving tests separately (individual threshold: 40 points).

Problem-solving tests:

The dates and places of the two problem-solving tests are

Test 1 26th March TBA
Test 2 28th May TBA

 

For every test, there is a repeat occasion:

Test 1 repeat 23rd April TBA
Test 2 repeat 4th June TBA

 

There will be an extra test opportunity in the week after the semester for those who failed a test. On this occasion, one (and no more than one) of tests 1-2 can be retaken.

 

Oral exam:

  • At the beginning of the exam, students must answer three short preliminary questions in writing. If any answer is incorrect, the exam is failed.

  • In the main part of the exam, students get two topics to report on. Preparation time: 30 minutes.   

 

Evaluation:

The end result is computed in the following way:

final points = (tests+homework bonus)/4+exam

marked using the following limits:
